So, if I love my new trail camera why have i given it 4 stars? This is because the temporary protective cover over the PIR sensor was not present when I unpacked my new camera. The area that this cover would have protected was slightly scuffed. I was disappointed but felt that this minor damage would probably not affect performance. The other temporary protective cover was there but was placed clumsily. I feel that my camera was probably a customer return. Despite all this I sat down with my trail cam, read through the instructions carefully, did a bit of experimenting and put the camera to work outside. I wanted to investigate what had been making some little hollows out on a dusty earth path. I was rewarded with photos of a group of sparrows coming down for a dust bath. I am so pleased about this. It really made my day/week. I have a lot of experimenting to do to get the best out of this camera. That would be the same for most cameras. I am very much looking forward to finding out more about what the true residents of my garden get up to when I'm not looking. I chose this trail camera because a friend who's judgement I, justifiably, value highly had chosen it and had good results. I checked out it's pros and cons and it seems to meet my requirements well compared to others. I like that it takes rechargeables. I like the viewing screen for setting up etc. I like that I could afford it, I like the range of options available when setting up. The manual does not explain everything but the camera seems robust enough for exploring options you think will very likely be there, such as a means to delete photos from within the camera. I was surprised to find that the PIR sensor does not remain on. You have to select the sampling frequency so that you conserve your batteries. I initially set this too high thinking I didn't want to miss something walking by. For the sparrows it would have been better to sample less frequently as they stayed for a while. I had quite a few photos to look through before any animals appeared as it it was a breezy day and foliage moving against hot backgrounds must have made the sensor register movement. I don't know if this characteristic is common to other trail cams.
Needing a new camera after ours was stolen, we decided to buy the same make and model again, as we had been so pleased with it. It's easy to set up, takes great videos, is waterproof and moisture proof. We like the no-glow LEDs for night use, plus the night videos are clear.
For the price, is a good trail camera and has lots of features.
Great camera for wildlife studies. Have probs with using movie mode as instructions for that not very clear, otherwise it’s great.
I really like the easy menu and easy set up. Also the photo and video quality is excellent.
Camera is easy to set up -great picture quality- highly recommended!
